Mommy moments

Why, you ask, did I think it was a good idea to introduce a new puppy to the house when I'm a) trying to keep the house clean? and b) trying to get ready for Christmas? Well, the answer is: I'm nuts. Bull-goose-looney. I have little bits of paper and such all over my newly-swept floor. And let's NOT talk about potty training, okay?

Okay, wait. Let's do talk about it. But if you're squeamish, stop reading right now. I mean it.

So here goes: I took our little gong zhu (princess) to the dentist this morning. She's doing beautifully. I'm doing not so well. I smell somthing funny.

While I'm chit-chatting with the hygienist, I'm surreptitiously looking around. Nada. Then it occurs to me. My little gong zhu has accidentally found where the puppy did his business and, stepped right in it. And then she got in my car. ARGH!

Fortunately, I know the hygienist since she's been cleaning gong zhu's teeth for years, so she didn't laugh at me too terribly hard as I whisked the offending shoe off my daughter and outside to be cleaned.

I swear. The things I never thought I'd ever be doing before I became a mama. I assure you, wiping off a poopy Croc outside the office of a pediatric dentist in a chic part of town is definitely NOT something I ever thought I'd be doing.

Perhaps that will help those of you who are waiting to be first-time mommies. It's not all Gymboree and ballet class/little league. There IS the occasional moment like this! :-)
