Okay, I'm cheesed

Alright. You know all those prospective adoptive parents out there who have so much time and energy? Their houses are perfect, they're always prepared, and they take tons of classes in Mandarin so they can communicate with their adored soon-to-be kids? Yeah, they hack me off, too.

So. I figured I would be one of those wonderful, hate-able parents and sign up at the local community college for "Mandarin for the Adoptive Parent."

Boy, was I smug.

I got to tell all my friends that I was going to learn a little Mandarin. I'm so culturally sensitive, I was going to be able to talk to our new child AND help our DD when she starts Mandarin class in a year or so. I was just the bee's knees, right? Wrong. They canceled the class for insufficient enrollment.

Whoof. That's what I get for trying to be one of those parents! I'm actually one of these parents who loves their kid wildly but does not have a perfect house, a perfectly color-coordinated playroom, plans for every single day which include educational yet fun activities and a nutritionally-balanced complete meal plan for the whole week planned out. Nope, sorry.

Maybe I can try a little Mandarin next semester? In the meantime, maybe I'll work on color-coordinating the play room-- ha ha.

Yeah..I belong to that group too. I find the colorful toys scattered around the room makes for fine color coordinating.
