Okay here's the cake

Here's the cake for the shower tomorrow. I sent away for the "double happiness" cookie cutter from an Ebay seller in Hong Kong. Apparently the Chinese are not big on cookie cutters. So this was a real find.

There were about a million cookie "molds" available everywhere-- like what you'd stamp the top of a moon cake with. But cookie cutters? Not so much. It was pretty nifty getting a package from HK, too. The postage was gorgeous.

The fondant was pretty uncooperative for me today-- I managed to put a wet brush print in the middle of the cake. But the gum paste "double happiness" and letters turned out pretty well, I thought.

That's a lot harder than it looks on TV...
