Having done this dossier thing twice before, I flatter myself that I'm a pro. I peruse the list of required docs. I'm ready. I'm on it. (I'll forget something, trust me.)
Anyway, dh and I have appointments for our physicals on the 31st; I scheduled them this morning. Usually the doc is booked up several weeks for a physical (I had to BEG last time to get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time), but I think the drop off in Chinese adoptions is cutting down on the number of physicals he has to do. It's worth mentioning in this context that the doc only does them one day a week.
Now I'm on my way to the County government center to get my criminal record check.
Mind you, I don't have a home study agency yet.
I left a message this morning for another agency, this one turns out to be almost walking distance from our home. Nifty. AND they have worked with our agency, and Taiwanese adoptions, before. A big advantage. They know the drill.
A girlfriend tells me that they have a fee for the homestudy, a fee for post-placement, and a fee when you get approved. Weird. That can't be right. Maybe that's for re-adoption? Anyway, you'll know when I know.
So...off to mail off the adoption application and down to the County. Yow.
