Well, here we are. Just about 4.5 months into my "pregnancy." Under the usual circumstances, I would know that I am half-way through. The baby will be here in the neighborhood of four and a half months, give or take.
Me? Not so much.
I don't feel the slightest bit nearer. The blogs and online group posts are not leading me to believe that I am much nearer at all, do they for you?
So, having seen a post by an e-friend of mine where she notes that she is actually a full-term, nine months paper pregnant, I was inspired to a) commiserate; and b) try out my new digi-scrap goodies.
Honestly, I'm mighty cranky about the whole thing today.
Maybe my grumpy attitude is from all the sugar I consumed baking pies and cookies for Turkey Day tomorrow? I baked a pecan pie, a grape pie, and a mess of gingerbread cookies. My husband baked a chocolate cake from a recipe that's been in his family almost 70 years, can you imagine? It's got a boiled frosting. Between the two of us, the whole house has smelled delicious for days now!
Our guest, who is a native of Prince Edward Island and, as such, not going home until Christmas, says he is going to test the theory heard on the Today show that the average American consumes 5000 calories on Turkey Day. He's thinking he can beat that. And at my table tomorrow, I wouldn't be a bit surprised.
My husband and I whiled away the late afternoon today playing the new Monopoly game where you have a debit card instead of paper money. Big, big fun. So really, on balance, I have very little to complain about and a LOT to be grateful for. (I swear I'll be less grumpy when I wake up!)
Hope you have a terrific holiday!
