Well, today is the very first day of the adoption journey to Taiwan. We have orally committed to an adoption agency, FFC, contracts and money to follow this week.
Technically, I suppose, I've been working on this for a week now, ever since my husband, my beloved didactic literalist, and I decided that our four-year-old, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed, should have a sister.
Thanks to China's new (draconian, in my view) requirements, we no longer qualify for China. BUT Taiwan is more humane towards adoptive parents, for the most part AND the adoption trip is approximately a week. This is MUCH more agreeable than the 2.5 week ordeal which is China.
Today I'm in the process of hunting a home study agency. Who knew they were $1300 - $1700? Sheesh.
Also today I have to talk to our mortgage-holder about refinancing. Oy. I'm afraid we'll be making our house payment out of our social security checks! Nonetheless, the $10,500 tax credit should help enormously.
So.
Day 1. Here we go!
